Letter from the Principal - Brad Toole

Henry Lawson Festival

Thanks to everyone who was able to march in the parade and help at the BBQ last Saturday for the Henry Lawson festival. It is a great event and weekend for Gulgong and it is fantastic to see our All Hallows School so well represented. We really appreciate all the staff and parents who were able to give up some time to help the P&F. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Athletics Carnival

Our carnival has been rescheduled for  this coming Monday the 16th of June, at Victoria Park Gulgong.

Our P&F will be hosting a BBQ  that will be selling sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, bacon and egg rolls, water and poppers. We are after a few helpers on the day. If your able to spare an hour or two can you please email Brad on b.toole2@bth.catholic.edu.au

We will also require many helpers on the track and with the field events.

** There will be a coffee van onsite.

R.E. Matters

The theme for 2025 is…

All Hallows - People of Hope
2025 is a Year of Jubilee!

Winter Woolies Day

TUESDAY 24TH JUNE, 2025

Do you have any jumpers, coats, winter clothing or blankets that your family has outgrown? Can you donate cans of food?

Winter is a very difficult time of year if you are homeless or you can’t pay for your heating or other essentials. St Vincent de Paul Society – ‘Vinnies’, rely on generous donations from the community to support their Winter Appeal. We hope to be able to give the cans of food and non- perishable goods and clothing collected, to Vinnies at the end of the term. We know that they will be very grateful.

The tubs are in the hall to collect donations for the Vinnies ‘Winter Woolies Day.’ Please send what you can for those in need this winter.

About ‘Vinnies’

For over 160 years, the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia (fondly known as ‘Vinnies’) has been assisting people experiencing poverty and disadvantage in our communities.

WHO WAS ST. SAINT VINCENT de PAUL?

Saint Vincent de Paul lived long ago in France. He was known in his lifetime as a saint of the poor. The Holy Spirit within Vincent helped him to serve the homeless, children, prisoners and refugees. He gave food to those in need. He looked after those who were sick in hospital. Vincent’s great love for the poor is something wonderful that we can remember and imitate. He was an example of positive moral behaviour.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PARENT MEETING

A meeting for parents/guardians of children making their First Holy Communion will be held on WEDNESDAY 25th June, 2025 at 3.30pm in the School Library. The children will receive their First Holy Communion at the Parish Mass on Sunday 24th August, 2025.

Yr 6 RE TEST – WEDNESDAY 18th June, 2025

Next week our Year Six students will sit the Year Six RE Test. This is a diocesan wide RE test that all our schools participate in. They have been preparing consistently and we wish them well next Wednesday.

Sport

Polding Cross Country

Goodluck to Braxton, Jett and Brycen who are competing at the Polding Cross Country Event in Sydney today. The boys have been training really hard and will be great representatives of our school. Good luck!

NSW Primary School Chess Competition

This Friday 20 students will head to Gulgong Public School to participate in the NSW Primary School Chess Tournament. This is our first time we have assembled a ‘Chess Team’ and look forward to a great day of competition at Gulgong Public School. We are proud of all our students for giving something new a try.

Athletics Carnival

Dont forget our carnival has been rescheduled for this coming Monday the 16th of June.

Uniform

We have been going really good with our uniforms this year. Let's keep it up!

I have just noticed this week a few people missing a tie or having the wrong shoes/socks on etc.

A couple of things to remember:

  • Ties must be worn everyday in term 2 and 3 and worn correctly. They need to be done tightly enough so that the top buttons can’t be seen.
  • Shoes must be fully black with black laces.
  • Full uniform when you leave school at the end of the day. Please note that students need to have their hat on and shirt tucked in when they leave at the end of the day.
  • Hair that is past the collar/shoulder needs to be neatly brushed and up in a band out of students' faces.
  • Please ensure that your child has their correct items of clothing when they return. We have a number of students that have lost hats and jumpers. Many of these items have names on them so should be easy to identify.
  • During Terms 2 and 3 when the weather is cold our blue AHS school beanie can be worn to replace the school hat.
  • We are currently working with a supplier to organise a school jacket order. Orders will be taken in the next week and jackets will be ready to go for the start of Term 3.

NAIDOC Week

The NAIDOC Week 2025 theme is "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy". This theme celebrates the achievements of the past while looking towards the future, focusing on the strength of young leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors. NAIDOC Week 2025 will be celebrated from July 6th to 13th.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country. During week 10 All Hallows will be joining with the other Gulgong schools to celebrate the culture of our First Nations people.

Tuesday 1st July:

  • We will all go to the High School with the other schools.
  • All our students will create artwork to decorate the High School Gym.
  • Join in the community celebrations at Gulgong High School.

Wednesday 2nd July

All Hallows NAIDOC Day

  • Mufti Day wearing something Red, Black or Yellow
  • Activities throughout the day in mixed groups.
  • BBQ Lunch (Sausage Sizzle)
  • NAIDOC Liturgy at 2.15pm
  • Return to classes after lunch for the afternoon.

Parents are all invited to attend the liturgy, activities and barbecue and join with us throughout the day.

Any parents or All Hallow Community members who would like to be involved in the planning  and preparation of our school NAIDOC Day please contact Brad on b.toole2@bth.catholic.edu.au. We would love some community input on activities to run throughout the day.

Assistant Principal and Religion Coordinator Conference

Tomorrow and Friday Sarah and Kylie will be attending their retreat for 2025. They will be discussing a number of interesting topics and spending quality time with other leaders from the Bathurst Diocese.

Administration Conference

Carolyn and Bec will be away Tuesday and Wednesday next week - 17th & 18th June, attending the annual Administration Conference in Bathurst.  The school office will be attended by casual staff for these days so please phone the school for any enquiries as the girls will not be monitoring their emails.

Next week's  school newsletter will not be issued until Thursday 19th June.
