Letter from the Principal - Brad Toole
Fr Owen Farewell
Next Wednesday we will say Farewell to Father Owen. Father Owen has been moved back to his hometown Parish in Oberon in July after being our Parish Priest for the last seven and a half years.
Father Owen will join the staff for lunch next Wednesday. The students will have a 15 minute farewell in the Hall at 1.50pm with Fr Owen. Everyone is welcome to come and say goodbye to Father Owen. We thank him for his service and devotion to our school community and wish him well in Oberon.
Father Paul Devitt will be replacing Father Owen and he will be introduced to our school community in Term 3.
Attendance
As our teachers have been writing reports and we have been looking at our attendance as we enter our absent day numbers. There is no surprise, the link between higher attendance rates equalling better learning outcomes is evident. The list of benefits for students with good attendance rates is endless and provides a more comfortable learning experience for the student. There are a few things that I would like to bring to your attention regarding attendance:
- All absences must be explained to the school in writing via email or through the compass portal. All unexplained absences are viewed by the Diocesan Office. It is so important that the children attend school every day unless there is sickness or extenuating circumstances.
- Our new attendance system on the Compass Program does not allow for ANY unexplained absences. Please remember to notify the office and class teacher via email or compass. This also applies if your child is late to school. If your child is late to school or needs to leave during school time, they must go through the front office to be signed in and out.
- Our goal set by the CEDB and NSW Government is to have all students attending school more than 90% of the time.

ALL HALLOWS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 2025
What a wonderful day we all had at the All Hallows Athletics Carnival on Monday.
It was worth the wait for the wonderful weather that gave us perfect conditions for athletics. Thankyou to our parent, grandparents and families who came along to support us and to those cooking the barbeque to feed us.
The students are to be congratulated for the way they performed and encouraged each other as they competed throughout the day. The photos told the story of determined faces in competition, smiles with friends and the supportive cheering for all.
After recess the K/1 students arrived and showed us all how it was done with their games and lightning fast sprinting races. Finally, the day culminated in the House Relay – won by MacKillop!
A big Thankyou to our teachers and parent helpers who also did some running – From the Field event to the Track event and back again…all day. We appreciate all those who helped make our carnival possible by volunteering and supporting on the day.
This carnival day could not happen without you.
We appreciated the Mid -Western Regional Council marking the track and field areas. We thank them for the effort.
The results are in…
CARMEL – 98 points – CLARE 129 points
and the winner is……. MACKILLOP – 172 points
Congratulations to MACKILLOP House and their captains, Pippa and Braxton on winning this year’s Athletics Carnival.
Congratulations to all the Age Champions from this year’s carnival.

NAIDOC Week

The NAIDOC Week 2025 theme is "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy". This theme celebrates the achievements of the past while looking towards the future, focusing on the strength of young leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors. NAIDOC Week 2025 will be celebrated from July 6th to 13th.
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country. During week 10 All Hallows will be joining with the other Gulgong schools to celebrate the culture of our First Nations people.
Tuesday 1st July:
- We will all go to the High School with the other schools.
- All our students will create artwork to decorate the High School Gym.
- Join in the community celebrations at Gulgong High School.
Wednesday 2nd July

- Activities throughout the day in mixed groups.

- Return to classes after lunch for the afternoon.
Parents are all invited to attend the liturgy, activities and barbecue and join with us throughout the day.
REPORTS
Our teachers are busy preparing our Semester 1 Reports. Our students have been busy working hard for two terms and should be proud of their efforts this semester. Reports will be made available on Compass in the final week of this term. The purpose of this report is to accurately communicate to parents and students about student achievement, and to clearly identify goals for students to work towards. In Week 2 we will be having another round of parent teacher meetings to provide an opportunity to discuss the Semester Reports and discuss goals for Semester 2.
BEANIES
The school is now selling beanies for $18. They are available from the Uniform Shop. They can be worn on cool days. I would advise students to have their hats in their bags so they can change later in the day if it warms up.
