Letter From The Principal - Brad Toole

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Aliyah, Braxton, Rory and Brycen who represented the Diocese at the Polding Athletics Carnival in Newcastle last week. There were some outstanding performances on the day. All four students were great representatives of our school with some fantastic PB's on the day. Aliyah and Brycen were so close to making it to the State Carnival with 4th placings in their events on the day.

We are proud of all of you.

The theme for 2025 is…

All Hallows - People of Hope
2025 is a Year of Jubilee!

A NEW SAINT - Pier Giorgio Frassati

A special event took place in Rome last weekend

The Catholic Church named two new saints.

Last week we learned about Carlo Acutis. Pier Giorgio Frassati was also canonised.

Pier Giorgio Frassati was born in 1901, Pier was an Italian Catholic layman who was known for his deep faith and dedication to the poor. Born into a wealthy family, he used his own resources to support those in need. He was a lover of the outdoors with a passion for mounting climbing, which he often saw as an opportunity for his apostolic work, leading his friends to Mass, reading scripture or praying the Rosary.

He was believed to contract an illness from those he tended to, which ultimately led to his death. He neglected his own health to care for his dying grandmother and passed at the age of 24. The night before his death, he managed to scribble a note with his paralysed hand, instructing his medication to be taken to a poor and sick man who he was caring for – a final act of his lifelong compassion.

SAVE THE DATE - SCHOOL FEAST DAY

Our school Feast Day - All Saints Day is 1st November.

This year we will celebrate on Friday 31st October.

The school will celebrate with a Mass, Morning Tea and each class undertaking works of service in the community. Please join us on this special day for our school.

SAINT DRESS-UP

This year to commemorate ALL SAINTS DAY and as a link to those our school is named after, each child is asked to come dressed as a chosen saint. Throughout the year classes have learnt about different saints which will help the children select a saint to represent on our feast day .Where possible children are encouraged to select an individual saint to create a larger school display of different saints.

We encourage the use of ‘props’ related to a particular saint. (St Peter –key, St Therese – flowers…)

The focus is on learning who these people were and what was so extraordinary about them that they were included in the ‘Communion of Saints’. Most outfits will be worn over uniforms for the morning, as classes will be heading out to their service activity after recess.

Year 5/6 Sydney Excursion

Next week our Yr 5/6 students will travel to Sydney for their long- awaited excursion. This year we will travel with friends from Sacred Heart, Coolah. Mr Rogers, Mrs Hensley and Ms Statham will be travelling with the group.

Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture and heritage as well as scientific study, geography and art education. There will also be some recreational activities.

This opportunity is valued by our students and we are looking forward to playing tourist in the capital of NSW.

Thank you to our parents and guardians who have helped organise us for this excursion. The bus leaves at 8am on Tuesday morning and we will return at 5.30pm on Friday. Students are reminded to pack their recess, lunch and a full drink bottle of water for Tuesday.

SPORT

DIOCESAN SUMMER SPORTS TRIALS

The Bathurst Diocesan Summer Sports Trials for 2026 will be held in Dubbo on Thursday 20th November (Touch Footy, Softball and Cricket) and Friday 21stNovember (Basketball and Tennis) and are open to students in Yr 4 and Yr 5.

These trials are used to select members for the Bathurst Diocesan team to compete at the Polding selection Trials in 2026 for cricket, basketball, tennis, touch footy  and softball. Students from all schools in the Bathurst Diocese are invited to attend the trials. This is a selection trial, with skill and game components, which will allow all students the opportunity to best show what they can do. Students wishing to trial  MUST display a HIGH standard of ABILITY in these sports to warrant being sent to the trials. They should be involved in REGULAR COMPETITION and have a SOUND KNOWLEDGE OF THE RULES of the game.

Any student wishing to attend the Summer Sports Trials will need to see Ms Statham.

An information note will be sent out at the beginning of Term 4.

Sun Safety

A reminder to all parents to ensure that their child has packed their hat in their bag every day. The ‘No Hat, Shade Play’ rule is enforced and children will not be allowed to play outside if they don’t have a hat on. Please help us to ensure that sun safety procedures are being followed at our school.

School Fees

Just a reminder that school fees are now due for payment unless you are on a direct debit payment plan.

If you are on direct debit we  ask that you ensure your  payments  cover your fees so they are cleared by the end of the year.  The Compass Parent Portal allows you to view your balance and make top up payments or you can contact the office to increase your payments if necessary.

Pink Up Gulgong

Save the date:  PINK DAY - Friday 17th October 2025  (Week 1 Term 4)

Details of the day are being organised with the SRC. The day will include a dress up in pink for a gold coin donation. All money raised will go towards the Jane McGrath Foundation fundraiser. This year the fundraising goes towards supporting people with all types of cancers.

Healthy Lunch Boxes

A few friendly reminders:

  • Every child needs a healthy lunchbox and some fruit for crunch n sip each day.
  • Lunchboxes should not include lollies or drinks that are full of sugar.
  • It is important that you pack enough food to get your child through the day. It is a long day for little kids.
  • Please try to provide food that will keep them nourished for longer. Carbs and protein are good for this.
  • We are a nut aware school. We have children that are anaphylactic to nuts so please do not send foods that contain nuts. We also encourage students not share food for these reasons.
  • If any families are having any trouble please let me know and we can assist you.

End of Year Presentation

After careful consideration we have made the decision to hold this year's awards ceremony during the school day instead of during the evening. The reason we have made the decision is we want to give all students the opportunity to be at the awards ceremony. We have noticed a trend over recent years of less students attending the night time presentation evening. We  will evaluate after the Presentation afternoon this year.

Our Awards Assembly will be held on Thursday 11th December at 1pm at Memorial Hall.
